The ICAA has put together a selection of the best Spanish short films from last year to promote at international festivals. On Feelmakers you have several of them available for viewing on demand.
The Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) has compiled a catalog with a selection of the best Spanish films of 2015 for the general promotion of this segment of Spanish cinema. The aim is to promote the dissemination and strengthen its presence at festivals and in national and international markets.
The selection was made by a committee that was proposed by associations in the sector: the Spanish Short Film Coordinator, the Association of the Short Film Industry and the Platform for New Filmmakers.
This is a pioneering initiative whose first selection includes the following titles: 3/105, Bikini, El Corredor, Los Cárpatos, Muebles Aldeguer, Sangre de Unicornio, Ser e voltar, Soy tan feliz, Todo un futuro juntos and Viaje a pies.
This is a sample selection of the best Spanish short films, which have earned a large number of selections and awards at national and international festivals: Best Short Film at the Seminci of Valladolid, Gaudí Awards, the Forqué Award for Best Short Film, Spanish Version Award given by the Festival of Alcala de Henares, Medina del Campo and Cinemajove, Goya nominations, official selections at Locarno, Clermont Ferrand and Mar de Plata as well as screenings in over 25 countries worldwide. The catalog is a reflection of the diversity of genres, styles and techniques currently on display in the Spanish short film industry.
Each year, the DVD catalog will be distributed to international markets and festivals wherever the ICAA is operating. In addition, screenings will be held in the Cervantes Institutes abroad, in the offices of the State Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AECID) and international universities where Spanish studies are given and on film tours traveling to other countries in particular.
The International Short Film Festival Clermont Ferrand in France, to be held from 5 to 13 February, will be the framework chosen to present this first selection of short films, making the most of the stand ‘Shorts from Spain’ to be featured at that trade fair.
