The Gran Canaria animation Festival Animayo returns to Los Angeles (California), for the fourth consecutive year, with an event in Los Angeles Film School with presentations at Walt Disney Studios and at DreamWorks Animation.
The internationalization project of the festival launched in 2011 by the director and producer Damian Perea, is an event that not only benefits the growth and promotion of the Festival in the American industry, but also helps to strengthen the positioning of Gran Canaria in the map as suitable for the production segment of Spain enclave.
The Festival has become in nine years of existence in a world leader in its sector. Today, it is the only Spanish festival based in Beverly Hills, and his alliance with Gran Canaria Film Commission continues year after year creating a beneficial feedback for the film and audiovisual industry of Gran Canaria.
This new edition of Animayo Los Angeles reinforce the promotion of the island to accommodate the filming of big budget movies like paradise locations, the positioning of Gran Canaria Film Commission in the US market and promote Gran Canaria exclusively as a point of not only tourism, but also technological, visual, economic and above all as a natural location for super productions of special effects, one of the sections where the Festival is specialized.
So, Animayo meets year after year the VIPs of the animation movies. The elite of the American industry attended the official presentation and the screenings, on October 24, representatives from Disney, Dreamworks, Sony studios and special effects supervisors from major productions such as Iron Man or Lord of the Rings. Also, among many others, we saw David Feis (creator of the famous Cow and Chicken series), Raul Garcia (first European animator in Disney), Daniel Peixe (animator at Disney), Igor Lodeiro (supervising animator for Dreamworks), Luis labrador (senior modeler at Disney), Roger kuppelian (The Lord of the Rings matte painter), representatives of Oblivion, Hugo, Alice Wonderland, etc.. Also attended the event Diran Bandazian (Disney), Ronald Johnson (technology manager at Walt Disney Animation Studios), Francis Glebas (storyboard artist on films like the Lion King or Pocahontas), and several members of the Academy Awards. As institutional representatives were the consuls of Spain in Los Angeles – Javier Vallaure- accompanied by other representatives of the Ministry, representatives of ICEX and Egeda USA.
